Shock Wave Therapy Machine

A shock wave is a pressure wave – anything that moves the medium around it is a shock wave. When a stone is thrown into a pond, the ripples created are called shock waves. The shock wave used in equine medicine is generated in a fluid medium inside the head of the transducer and then travels easily through the skin, fat and muscle. High-energy waves are concentrated inside the head of the transducer so that the shock wave can be directed to the precise area of injury. When a shock wave hits an area with a high acoustic impedance, such as bone, the shock wave slows dramatically and a large amount of energy is released into the surrounding tissue.
